| * | I took the discovery cruise from fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas. This was one of my worst experiences. I ship should not have left the port that morning. The east coast was experiencing colder than usually temperatures and we experienced very rough seas. The captian made a big mistake when he decided to leave. More than half of the ship was physically sick and vomiting. Children and adults were lying on the floor very sick. The crew members were not helpful and they left passangers on the floor instead of tending to them. This could be because they don't speak english. A lot of people got ripped off that day. Many paid over $150 for good entertainment and food. The entertainment was boring and no one was well enough to eat. Aviod this cruise, it ruined my vacation! | Female under 25 | 01-09-08 |
| **** | We traveled many times to Freeport by Discovery. Though it is not a 5 star cruise ship it gets you there at a very reasonable price. You can ask for dramamine upon boarding the ship. Acutally they usually ask you if you want it. As for the food, it is not the best but definately not the worst. My whole family is traveling by Discovery in June. We don't expect the best but at $99 round trip compared to $350 by air, it is a bargan. | Middle age couple | 04-30-08 |
| **** | Me & my hubby took this cruise in May of 08...WE LOVED IT! It had enought to keep us busy for the five hours and the time flew by. It does get old waiting to get off, but that is expected with a crowded cruise ship. The staff is kind and helpful. We are actually going back in FEB 09 and taking our 4 year old, when we were on board the 1st time we noticed all the kids activities that he would just love! | Young couple | 01-22-09 |
| * | Today 4/12/2009 received an e-mail from Discovery stating there one and only piece of crap tug boat is broken and they regret they have to cancel out vacation!!! WTF??? So I call them to find out about what is going on, get someone on the phone that spoke VERY poor English (go figure these days) he told me the boat had an engine failure 8 days ago, once again WTF??? We were to leave in 6 days. Asked about getting our full refund back he said “It will take some time” once again WTF??? We paid when we booked in full they had the funds right then and there, I asked what about paid for airfares, paid for lodging, he said “that is not their problem” I say once more WTF??? First thing tomorrow you can bet I will be on the phone to get someone that speaks and understands English. If that is not all bad enough in my job we have to pick our vacation time for the entire next year in Dec this was my slot, now DCL has over $2,000 of our money tied up, we have time off now with no place to go and no funds to try to do anything else.
