Best Time to Visit Monterey California
Monterey is an ideal year-round destination although it is imperative to remember to pack both sunscreen and sweaters. A sunny day can be deceptively cool, and the comfortable temperature can keep you outside long enough to get a bad burn. The best time to take a tourist trip to Monterey is from the last weekend in May until Labor Day. Youll be able to use WAVE, the Waterfront Area Visitors Express, a free shuttle service that runs between Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fishermans Wharf, Downtown Monterey and the Del Monte Shopping Center. Touring the surrounding wineries is also an option during from May until Labor Day. Click Here to find hotels in Monterey. If you need additional visitor information for Monterey, Click Here.

Average Monterey Weather
Just like Baby Bears porridge in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the temperature in Monterey is not too hot, not too cold. Year-round, the mean average temperature ranges from the 50s to the 60s. From November through May average lows are in the 40s, June through October average lows are in the 50s. Average daytime highs hover in the 50s and 60s year-round. December, January, February and March get two or three inches of rain per month. The rest of the year rainfall is usually less than one inch a month.

Transportation
American Airlines, Delta, US Airways, United and Reno Air serve Monterey Airport. The Monterey-Salinas Airbus connects Monterey Airport with San Jose and San Franciscos airports. American, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National and Thrifty car rental companies all have Monterey outlets. Amtrak and Greyhound also serve Monterey. The local transit company, Monterey-Salinas Transit, covers the area comprehensively; you can reach them at (831) 373-4135. From the end of May through Labor Day, WAVE, the Waterfront Area Visitors Express, a free shuttle service, can get you to all the area attractions. You can call them at (831) 422-2877.

In-Season Costs
Like many affluent communities, Monterey is expensive. Tourist attractions are moderately priced, admission to the aquarium is $19.95 and can absorb an entire day. The famous 17 miles drive costs $8.50 per vehicle, but bike riders can take the trek for free. You can hunt down a dinner for less than $20 without wine, but in general Monterey locals tend to be discriminating consumers who are willing to pay for good food. In-season, expect to pay around $120 to $130 for a budget hotel and from $180 to $300 for luxury lodgings. Monterey is definitely a destination that bears advance planning to scope out special hotel price offers.
