Average Tucson Weather
Year-round mild weather is one of Tucson's prime characteristics. Its coolest in January and December when average highs hit the mid-60s. June and July see average highs around 100, but the famous lack of humidity makes it pleasant even at those elevated temperatures. July and August each get right around two inches of rain although throughout the rest of the year youll seldom see showers; most months average less than one inch of rainfall.

Transportation
Tucson is really best if you have your own wheels. If you are going to rely on public transport you can get information on Sun Tran buses by phoning 520/792-9222. Aero Mexico, America West, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, and United serve Tucson International Airport. Most major car rental agencies have desks at the airport. In baggage claim youll find a visitor information center where you can pick up brochures about Tucson. Many Tucson hotels provide airport shuttle service. Check with your hotel. Arizona Stagecoach (tel. 520/889-1000) is a 24-hour van service running to hotels in downtown Tucson and the foothills resorts. The vans are right outside the center of the baggage-claim area.

In-Season Costs
Tucson does not really have a high season and a low season being that its a year-round resort. That said, its one of those wonderful places where you can budget for whatever degree of service and style suits you. You can easily pay over $300 a night for a room at one of the areas outstanding resorts, or find a budget room with better-than-average amenities in the $70 to $80 range. Restaurant choices are varied as well; you can spend almost any amount you like. The one item that is a must in your budget is a rental car unless you have driven to the area. The delights of the desert and zoo are only available to tourists with wheels.

Arizona Tourism - Tucson Attractions, Activities and Day Trips
Opportunities for day trips abound! You simply must visit the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum that details the animals and plants of the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona and northern Mexico. Dont pass up the option of a full moon desert hike. Drive to the east or west section of Saguaro National Park, the parking lots at the east ends of Speedway and Broadway are open 24 hours a day. Devote part of your stay to a drive to Mount Lemmon. Starting in the desert, the road runs up the Santa Catalina Mountains, where cactus and palo verde give way to pine and juniper.
