| ***** | We had gone dog sledding with Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours during the winter of 2008 and loved our time out on the trails and it has been a goal of mine to take part in the overnight tour since that exciting day!
This summer my husband and I had my parents and grandparents out for a 2 weeks visit to Calgary. All of us being dog lovers decided to call up Snowy Owl to see if they had anything to offer during the summer months. A very helpful and kind fellow named Matt explained the different summer programs we could take part in such as a tour of the kennel facilities and a summer style sled dog ride. At first I was hesitant to bring my grandparents to a sled dog kennel however, to my surprise the huskies were all so gentle, loving and extremely affectionate! Our guide Carlin was so helpful, sharing with us the history and culture of dog sledding. All the information she had about each and every dog was so interesting...these huskies are truly pampered and cared for! I was so impressed with the cleanliness of the whole kennel and the appearance of all their huskies. At the time of our visit they had just rescued some racing huskies so we were able to see the difference in care and how lucky these new huskies were to have found a home at Snowy Owl!
It was so nice to be able to visit with my team of huskies that had taken me out on my dog sledding trip and how they were cared for! A big thank you to Merlin, Lancelot, Zeppelin, Stiletto, Romeo and Juliet...it was so nice to see you all again!
I hope to return this winter to try my hand at the overnight trip! Thanks again Snowy Owl!
