| * | We had my daughter's wedding there on 1/12/08 and it was a disaster, to say the least. The Tucson Expo appeared to me more interested in preparing for the upcoming Gem Show than they did preparing for her wedding. Soooooo many issues, beginning with the firing of the Sales Manager we were working with 4 weeks prior to the wedding, and then being told by the GM that they would "try" to honor the Sales Managers agreement with us. The GM, being of gruff character, led my daughter to continuously ask me to deal with him. He would tell her one thing, but to me, another. As the Mother of the bride, I spent most of the entire evening running around handling the issues, rather than enjoying her wedding and our guests. Starting with having to ask the GM to clean up the disgusting massive amounts of splattered bird droppings at the entrance of the building where our guests were entering - AS our guests were entering!! Then, after being told we cannot bring in our own drinks, rather, we HAD to purchase them from the Tucson Expo, the lady running the "bar" had it closed down more than open during the evening. (Most all of our guests left early in frustration, stating that the bar kept closing down and they couldn't get a drink) In addition, all the things we were originally told we could have regarding brands of beers, two days prior we're told another story that it had to have been ordered a week ago. We had to bring our own refrigerator and microwave for our caterer, and then after being told by the GM he would furnish whatever electricity was needed, as one of the outlets did not work, his wife told us otherwise as we were trying to get things hooked up. The bride's dressing area (given to us "as a favor" to honor the Sales Managers agreement with us) was locked up during the reception, forcing all of us in the bridal party to have to remove our purses and other belongings and take them to be locked up in our cars. That also inhibited the Bride, my daughter, from entering back into the dressing area to use the restroom. She had to "hold it" the entire evening. In my opinion, The Tucson Expo is not professionally set up to host weddings, nor are they the least bit interested in their customer service for such. It was more than obvious that all they were concerned about was their upcoming Gem Show events. They already had our money, so what did they care. I do not recommend them to anyone, for any event, much less a wedding, as our experience with them was a complete disappointment!! It was the most terrible customer service, and most definitely not worth the inflated amount they we were charged. I wish we could do my daughter's wedding all over again, elsewhere. I personally intend to write to the out of state owners myself requesting a refund of the fees paid, which were paid by the not rich, hardworking bride and groom themselves. DO NOT waste your time or money with them. Be smart and learn from our terrible experience!
