About Vibhas: Graced by rich melodies and sensual rhythms, Vibhas music explores the essence of beauty and consciousness. Vibhas has toured the US, Europe, and India. His music has been described as “gentle, blissful relaxation” and creates an atmosphere of peace and well-being. Vibhas grew up in West Germany and studied piano and flute from the age of five. While receiving a degree in music education from “Johann Wolfgang Goethe University” Frankfurt, he had the privilege to study Flute with Rolf Bissinger, flutist for the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra, and Piano with Matitjahu Kellig, well known for his Mozart interpretations. Studies in Latin percussion and traditional instruments from many countries were all influential in his creation of original world music, melting genres from East to West. His work and personal curiosity brought him to India where he was introduced to meditation, and to the beautiful classical sounds of the East Indian Bansuri, or native bamboo flute. He met and studied with world famous flutist Pundit Hari Prasad Chaurasia. In 1997 Vibhas visited Sedona, AZ where he met Prasado, who became his wife and singing partner. It was here that he first heard the haunting sounds of the Navajo flute. Playing these traditional native flutes around the Southwest for the last ten years has brought him much praise from the local Native American population, who are fascinated by his intimate feeling for this ancient instrument, and the longing he expresses through it.

Tlaquepaque’s Festival of Trees: Christmas Spirit in Sedona, Nov 27, 2009 to Dec 06, 2009
Over 30 Christmas tress decorated by well-known artisits

Category:     Sedona Art event in Arizona

Description of this Sedona Event: Last year if you missed the wildly creative inspirations of local artists using Christmas trees as their three-dimensional canvases, you’re in for a treat. The popular Festival of Trees event/fundraiser is back for a second year and kicks off the Friday after Thanksgiving at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village in Sedona, Arizona. Well-known local and regional artists are given Christmas trees to go wildly creative on. Artistic merriment abounds with a Christmas tree bedecked with brightly painted recycled light bulbs of every kind, a splendid “angel tree” made of scrap roofing tin for protruding wings. Or how about a tree resembling a saguaro cactus decorated with chili pepper lights and intricately handcrafted gourds? The trees are auctioned off on the last day and funds benefit four charities including Toys for Tots. A silent auction, lots of musical entertainment with holiday favorites, Kids can get photos with Santa and create decorations using vibrantly colored paints on a wide variety of bisqueware pottery. Sedona’s Imagine Art will be set up at Patio de las Campanas to help everyone make a one-of-a-kind tree ornament or prepare a special gift. Photos with Santa and your favorite pet are all part of the 10 day event. Shopping discounts and free gift-wrapping on selected days are offered to get ready for the holidays.
