Description | The Mifflinburg Buggy Museum complex includes a Visitor Center with an introductory video, hands-on workbench and an exhibit introducing the Heiss family, buggy making and Mifflinburg. Visitors then take a guided tour of the Heiss family property, which includes the fully furnished family home (1872-1946); a reconstructed carriage house; the original buggy factory (1882 - 1931)which contains original tools, equipment and supplies; and the Repository (1895 - 1931), which was built as a buggy showroom, but was later used for community dances, used by an Athletic Club and the Heiss family as the "honey" house. The museum's collection also includes about 30 horse-drawn vehicles. Visitor Center and 1st floors of historic buildings are wheelchair accessible. Museum store, free parking and close to other attractions and restaurants. Each year, the museum sponsors a heritage festival, Buggy Days, in June as well as a garden tour and a cemetery walk.
